Flag Installation

After removing the mailbox from the carton, install the flag on the right side of the mailbox placing the 3/4" bolt and bushing through the flag, then through the box. Attach the nuts on the inside of the box and tighten the assembly.

Lock Keys

You are provided with multiple keys for your Guardian Mailbox. Most locksmiths can duplicate keys. It's important to note that it is not the responsibility of mail carriers to open mailboxes that are locked, accept keys for this purpose or lock mailboxes after delivery of the mail.

Mailbox Post Installation

Location: curb side mailboxes must be placed so that they may be safely and conveniently served by carriers without leaving their vehicles and must be located on the right-hand side of the road in the direction of travel of the carriers.

Customers are required to contact the local post office before installing the mailbox to ensure its correct placement and height. Generally, mailboxes are installed at a height of 41-45 inches from the road surface to the point of mail entry and are set back 6 to 8 inches from the front face of the curb or road edge to the mailbox door.

Installing Post or Support: The installation must conform to the above regarding location. The Guardian may be installed either on the specifically designed pedestal post on existing concrete or on he specifically designed post in the ground. For concrete installation, use wither the pre-installed 1/2" x 6" anchor "J" bolts provided or 1/2" x 4" drill and wedge anchor bolts. 1/2" flat washers may be used for leveling on uneven concrete slabs. If the 4-foot ground installation post is used, at lease on cubic foot of concrete is recommended for securing the post in he ground. When setting the post, a level should be used on the top bracket to level the post.

Installing Mailbox on Post: The base of the Guardian is secured to the top bracket of either the pedestal or the ground post by four 3/8" x 5/8" bolts and Nyloc nuts that are provided with either post. Place the gray diamond tread mat on the floor of the mail storage compartment after the Guardian has been secured tot he post.
